Optimism
A glass that is halfway filled with water can be perceived in different ways. Pessimists will view it as something that is half empty. A portion of the water is gone, and they will continue to moan about it until none of the water remains. Optimistic individuals, on the other hand, see the glass as half full and hope to make the best with what is left. I like to be categorized as part of the latter. Optimism is key for a person to succeed in life, and my experiences have trained me to always look at the brighter side of things. It makes life a heck of a lot easier.
My buoyant nature has helped me overcome various obstacles in life. The most notable event is clearly the day in which my English essay was due. I had completely forgotten about the assignment in midst of my work for other classes. It was only during my second period that I remembered about the paper. Although I panicked for a brief moment, I remained optimistic and figured that there was still enough time for me to write something. I had Language Arts fourth hour, so there was about two hours for me to work with. I quickly devised a desperate, last-minute plan in my head. I would use my third hour to compose a rough draft, and would type my final piece at the media center during lunch. Undoubtedly, there were doubts in my mind, but my determination and optimism cast the uncertainty aside. There was no way I would give up fifty test points without a fight. As the bell for lunch rang, I hurried to the media center to complete my task. Sure I had to sacrifice eating lunch but that was hardly a big deal; I could live without tacos for a day. With two minutes to spare, I was finished with my essay. I ran to the librarian for copies and then dashed to my English class as the bell rang. I cannot begin to explain how I felt when I turned in that paper. Mixed emotions hovered within me, but ecstasy was unarguably the most visible. I think my teacher can vouch for that. She stared at me with wide eyes when I gave her the essay with the biggest grin on my face.
You will most likely be very surprised to know that I received an 88% for my quickly written paper. Always be optimistic. I honestly can't stress this enough. It will lead you to great things, as it did for me.

Bah-ha ha..! You reminded me of my class too. I`d forgotten to do an assignment but I had to pretend like I`d some work in Library. Then, I ran (exhales) to the Library then typed what ever came to my poor mind. =p` It happens sometime in our life time. I'm sort of optimistic, though. Well, it depends in which mood I'm in! :D Cheers(:
